Branch transformation has been on the agenda of nearly every banking conference for almost a decade now, but there’s no evidence that any bank has landed on an Apple Store equivalent for retail bankers. Popular transformation strategies propose staff reduction and smaller networks, thanks to teller replacement technology. Others envision mini and even micro branch footprints with video connections to less frequently requested services. These options leverage dwindling branch traffic to squeeze out cost, but do they do enough to counter the dip in sales opportunities that will accompany fewer footfalls in our branch lobbies?
There’s no doubt that mobile and online banking have been a godsend to both bankers and the customers they serve, and have changed the way we bank forever. This session poses the question: “Who are we building our Branch of the Future for and what will they want to do when they get there?”We will look at optimizing the branch and distribution network based on the components of the value chain this channel delivers better than any other, including new, non-bank competitors. Attendees will leave the session with a firmer understanding of how brick and mortar transformation intent ties into their overall strategic objectives for 2020 and beyond.
