HOW (AND WHY) A REGIONAL BANK BECAME A NATIONAL LEADER IN STUDENT LENDING

Brad L. Conner, Vice Chairman, Consumer Banking, CITIZENS FINANCIAL GROUP, INC.

Just as some major players were exiting the student loan market, Citizens Bank saw a unique opportunity, anticipating customer need and demand for new repayment options. In January 2014, Citizens launched the Education Refinance Loan, one of the first private student refinancing loans offered by a national financial institution. Loan applications skyrocketed -- demonstrating a tangible demand for the product by customers. Citizens listened to customers, saw a need for another product and launched the federal Education Refinance Loan within the same year, to much acclaim.

Brad Conner, Vice Chairman of Consumer Banking at Citizens Financial Group, will explain how Citizens anticipated customers' needs, and developed and evolved a product line to meet those needs. He'll explain how the bank found value in the student loan market when others were moving in the opposite direction. You'll walk away understanding how to ask the right questions to delve into your customers' needs and the inspiration to deliver what your customers really want.
