LEGISLATIVE TRENDS, REGULATORY UPDATES AND EXCLUSIVE SPERS 3.0 PREVIEW

Jeremiah Buckley, Partner, BUCKLEYSANDLER LLP
Margo Tank, Partner, BUCKLEYSANDLER LLP
David Whitaker, Counsel, BUCKLEYSANDLER LLP

During this final session, the current legal and regulatory landscape related to the use and acceptance of electronic signatures and records will be presented.  An exclusive preview of the yet-to-be-released SPeRS 3.0 will also be provided.

As a reminder, Standards and Procedures for Electronic Records and Signatures (SPeRS) is a technology-neutral set of guidelines and strategies for industry use in designing and implementing systems for electronic transactions under the federal Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN) and state adoptions of the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA). The initial SPeRS 1.0 manual was drafted in 2003.  In 2011, a broad cross-section of leading financial service companies and trade associations developed an updated version, SPeRS 2.0.  Later in 2014, the latest version of these industry-wide guidelines will be published as SPeRS 3.0.
