Consumers, organizations and government agencies are continuing to realize the widespread benefits of electronic record and e-signatures technology. Although it appears electronic processes are just coming to fruition, this is not the case. In fact, they have been implemented for a long time, as the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) was enforced in 1999, making this year its 15th birthday. To commemorate this notable milestone, ESRA has gathered the original pioneers in the development of electronic signatures and records law.

The session will provide attendees with the history and involvement of the American Bar Association (ABA) and Uniform Law Commission (ULC) in promoting e-commerce.  These distinguished panelists will provide a unique perspective based on their first-hand experiences and insights into UETA’s origination.  Discussion will include the transformation of electronic signature to become the industry standard and how it has progressed. They will also highlight the importance of further, long-term investments in these systems to apply risk management, security and fraud prevention goals, while creating operational cost efficiencies.
