Loraine DeBonis has been immersed in the payments industry for nearly a decade. As Paybefore’s Editor-in-Chief, she is responsible for understanding the most important issues affecting the industry and delivering actionable content across all of Paybefore’s media platforms: Pay Magazine, Pay News, Pay Op-Ed, Pay Week, Pay Magazine, Pay Gov and Pay Connect buyer’s guide. She is a frequent moderator at industry events and chairs the judging panels for the annual Pay Awards and Pay Awards Europe industry competitions. Since joining Paybefore in 2007, DeBonis has developed relationships with industry stakeholders worldwide. Much of her work has focused on understanding trends in reaching the unbanked segment as well as emerging international markets, POS technology and the evolving mobile channel. Since June 2015, she has served on the board for the Network Branded Prepaid Card Association.
Loraine has been an editor and writer for national magazines and newsletters for 17 years, focusing specifically on prepaid cards, alternative payments and mobile commerce for the past nine. Prior to joining Paybefore, Loraine covered the prepaid card industry for SourceMedia in Chicago. Her work has appeared in Prepaid Trends and American Banker. Loraine received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, magna cum laude, from Xavier University in Cincinnati. She lives in Tennessee with her husband Alex, an English professor, and their four children.
