Dr. Drew Ramsey

Clinical Psychiatrist, Author, Farmer, and Founder, National Kale Day

Dr. Drew Ramsey is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He completed his specialty training in adult psychiatry at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute and received an M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine. Today he is an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and in active clinical practice in New York City where his work focuses on the clinical treatment of depression and anxiety. Using the latest brain science and nutritional research, modern treatments, and an array of delicious food he aims to help people live to their happiest, healthiest lives.

In short, Dr. Drew Ramsey is a psychiatrist, author, farmer, teacher, advocate, and bartender in no particular order.

A recovered vegetarian and long-time proponent of the healing power of food, thanks to his work in psychiatry, Dr. Ramsey has melded his passion for both food and profession to become a leading proponent of using dietary change to help balance moods, sharpen brain function and improve mental health. Through this work Dr. Ramsey has authored three books including The Happiness Diet, the best selling 50 Shades of Kale and his newest release – Eat Complete; the 21 Nutrients that fuel brain power, boost weight loss and transform your health.

He is the co-creator of The Brain Food Scale, co-founder of National Kale Day and a member of the medical review team at Dr. Oz’s webportal ShareCare. He is a sought after speaker and contributer including two TEDx talks and contributions to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, New York Magazine, Prevention, and NPR, which named him a “kale evangelist.”

And yes, that kale evangelist is a well-coined moniker for a man that has single handedly served up kale cocktails at events around the country, introduced hundreds of thousands to the power of kale and helped get kale on school menus around the country to proudly say that on National Kale Day hundreds of thousands of students enjoyed kale; many for the first time.

As a farmer and a psychiatrist Dr. Ramsey will assure you that the farm is the new pharma, there is no insurance policy for eating badly and your health starts at the end of your fork.
